Mark’s background is in quantitative research methods and outcome evaluation, although he has naturally progressed to predominantly working in Mixed Methods evaluation.

Mark is on the Board of Trustees of the Collaborative for Research and Training in Youth Health and Development (The Collaborative) and is also their quantitative research advisor.
In his role as Co-Chair of the Collaborative Research Committee, Mark is able to draw on the talents of some of Christchurch's brightest young researchers.
As Mark has been in this field for over ten years, he is also able to call on more experienced evaluators and researchers to collaborate on projects.

Mark is currently the research advisor and secretary of the New Zealand Early Intervention for Psychosis National Executive, and the national coordinator of the First Episode Research New Zealand (FERNZ) Project.
He has worked as a researcher in the area of first episode psychosis for over ten years. His recent work has included on-going evaluation of Family Help Trust, which operates child abuse-prevention services for high-risk families in Christchurch.

Mark is a member of the Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) and Clarity Research subscribes to their Code of Ethics and Guidelines for the Ethical Conduct of Evaluations. Mark is also a member of Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association (ANZEA).

Mark has published a number of papers in refereed journals and is a peer reviewer for journals including Australia & New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, New Zealand Medical Journal and Social Psychiatry & Psychiatric Epidemiology. Mark is an expert consultant for the Canadian Institute of Health Research and the Health Research Board of Ireland. Mark has conducted numerous evaluations for NGOs and public services.
